Welcome! I'm a 48 (and 1/2) year old, wife, mother (8 1/2 year old son), daughter, sister, friend and volunteer. So, 48.5 really means I'm into my 49th year on this amazing planet, and on July 19, 2010, I'll be in my 50th year. The mid-century mark. L. The big 5-0. However you want to say it, to most of the English speaking world, it means "old". I want to get there with grace, passion, beauty, love and laughter. I want to get there the old-fashioned way: by taking care of myself, eating right, creating a balanced life, laughing and living life to it's fullest. I'll be documenting my journey and hope you will watch and learn along the way. I'll also provide some of my tips for looking young and feeling your best as we head to and beyond our mid-century mark. Here's to being "Beautifully 50".

I'm thinking PINK!

Not the Pepto-Bismol, bubble-gum, pastel or neon variety, but the perfect soft, pretty, feminine, blush shade of pink. It's my new color of the moment and I can't get enough of it! A reminder - as we age, we need to wear less black and focus on softer palettes that will reflect light off our skin, therefore increasing our natural luminosity! The good news is that neutral color palettes, including my perfect blush pink, are a significant fashion trend for Spring 2010.

Now, depending on your age, some pastels can really wash out a mature skin, as skin loses pigment as time flies by.  Make sure you have someone you trust tell you if a color is good on you or not...and it's usually not the sales girl! Fashion in our 40's should be more sophiticated, focused on simple silouettes...nothing to frilly, girly or matchy-matchy.  But, still pay attention to trends (not all, but most), they'll keep us looking more youthful! (Yes, archive your small gold chain and invest in a statement necklace or loads of metal!)

Here are some of my favorite blush looks of the moment~

I agree on more color, less black. I'm 45 and recently had a photo taken for my business. I feel that my all black outfit looked a little too grim against my face. Thanks for the reminder!
